For the second time in three years, Trump is in the area to accept his “Statesman of the Year” Award from the Sarasota Republican Party.

“Looking forward to being awarded the ‘2015 Statesman of the Year’ by @SRQRepublicans this Thursday,” Trump said in a message on Twitter on Wednesday.

And Sarasota Republican Party Chairman Joe Gruters said he is expecting a sold out Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall when Trump steps to the podium. Gruters said they had to cut off ticket sales because the Van Wezel only holds about 1,750 people. Gruters said he could have had 2,500 people if not for that.

Trump is a continuation of what Gruters says is the Sarasota Presidential Series. Gruters has been trying to get all of the top GOP contenders in 2016 in Sarasota, even if they have not announced for the race yet. Already Rick Perry, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and Robert Ehrlich have been through the area.
