President Trump Listens to Experts (Again) While Joe Biden Lies About It (Again)

Fact checkers have repeatedly called out Joe Biden for false claims about President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus response – but Joe Biden just can’t stop lying about it:

• After Joe Biden claimed that the President was “muzzling” scientists, FactCheck.org debunked this, saying “Biden went too far.”
   
• Undaunted, the Biden campaign put out a video claiming a top CDC official was “silenced,” prompting a 4 Pinocchio fact check from the Washington Post.
   
• On the Biden campaign’s new podcast (which inexplicably was posted six days after it was recorded), Biden advisor Ron Klain repeated this false narrative, claiming President Trump is “not listening to these great experts.”

Here’s the latest dose of reality for the Biden camp: President Trump just announced that he was extending the CDC’s social-distancing guidelines to the end of April, citing recommendations by his team of public health experts. Dr. Fauci, who called the move a “wise and prudent decision,” said that both he and Dr. Deborah Birx had made the recommendation to President Trump. “I listened to experts,” President Trump said.

This is exactly what President Trump promised to do on March 24. “I will be guided very much by Dr. Fauci and by [Dr. Birx],” he said then.

In fact, Dr. Fauci has repeatedly said that President Trump has “never” gone against the science-based advice he has provided. "When he suggests, ‘why don’t we do this?’ And I say, ‘no, that’s really not a good idea from a scientific standpoint’ – he has never overruled me,” Dr. Fauci said. President Trump “has listened to what I have said,” Dr. Fauci added. “When I've made recommendations he’s taken them. He’s never countered or overridden me.”

The person who seems to have a problem listening to Dr. Fauci is Joe Biden, who refuses to admit he was wrong for opposing the travel restrictions against China that President Trump put in place in January. Those restrictions have been credited by public health experts with saving lives, but Joe Biden called them “hysterical xenophobia” and “fear-mongering.”
